2015 HIRING WILL INCREASE
According to three major business surveys, the pace of hiring will increase significantly in 2015.
CareerBuilder’s Annual Job Survey, released last week, indicated that 36 percent of employers expect to add permanent, full-time staff this year, which is a 50 percent increase over 2014.
Manpower’s Employment Outlook Survey, published in December 2014, determined that 19% of the 18,000+ employers surveyed planned to add staff in the first quarter of 2015.
The Employer Associations of America’s 2015 National Business Trends Survey of 1,417 organizations indicated that 52 percent of employers plan to add staff in 2015, which is an increase of greater than 10% over 2014. The majority of executives surveyed were optimistic about 2015, were confident they will award pay increases, and will invest in their existing employees, facilities and/or equipment.
In addition, the CareerBuilder survey indicates that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) hiring will be even more competitive in 2015 than it was in 2014. Last year, approximately 25% of survey respondents said they expected to add full-time, permanent STEM jobs in the year ahead. This year, that number is 31%. IT hiring will be the most competitive and is projected to increase 54%.
