IS YOUR RESUME GETTING LOST IN THE PILE?
Hiring managers and HR staff quickly scan resumes to determine which ones will be carefully evaluated. Unfortunately, many end up in a forgotten pile or the trash. Well-written resumes, which illustrate that your experience and achievements are consistent with job requirements are the ones that will be selected for further review. Here are a few tips to help you create a resume that gets noticed.
Summaries: Prepare a strong summary statement. Make it impressive.
Achievements: Your achievements distinguish you from others. Include an “Achievement Section” for each of your current and previous jobs. Include measurements, i.e. numbers and/or percentages to make your achievements more engaging.
Experience: Expand only on relevant experiences.
Customization: You reduce your chances of obtaining an interview if you apply to all jobs with the same resume. Every job deserves a well-tailored, customized resume, which addresses the specific needs of that potential employer.
Be Honest: Employers verify information contained in resumes.
Sell Yourself: When a company hires you, they are making an investment. Provide solid reasons for them to make that investment.
